Short Biography - The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh

The Starry Night is one of the most iconic paintings by Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh, created in June 1889. At the time, Van Gogh was living at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, in southern France, where he had voluntarily admitted himself due to his mental health struggles.

The painting was inspired by the view from his room, although he painted it from memory during the day rather than directly from observation. The artwork shows a dramatic night sky filled with swirling stars, a glowing crescent moon, and an expressive, dreamlike atmosphere.

A quiet village lies below the sky, with a tall cypress tree rising into the foreground. The intense colors, bold brushstrokes, and emotional energy are characteristic of Van Gogh's unique Post-Impressionist style.Although Van Gogh considered the painting somewhat of a failure at the time, The Starry Night later became one of the most celebrated works in the history of art. It captures both the beauty of nature and the artist’s inner emotional world, making it a powerful symbol of creativity and passion
